Body Painting Workshop
May 23rd 1 - 5pm
Venue: A Wee Retreat in Peebles
We begin with a short, gentle movement practice to explore how the upper back and shoulders move and feel in the body. This helps us develop a physical sense of the region we’ll be working with.
From there, the workshop moves into a short anatomical demonstration. Using skeletal models and guided group participation, Karen will introduce the key structures of the upper back and shoulders and help us understand how these parts work together in movement.
Then we get to the painting. You’ll be guided through the process step by step—from mixing water and pigment to simple techniques for applying paint effectively on the skin.
Participants will have the opportunity to swap partners, so anyone who wishes can experience both roles: painter and painted.
We finish with a short demonstration and playful moment of documentation, where our living cadavers and anatomists can admire their work, take photographs, and enjoy the remarkable view of anatomy brought to life on the body.
