Academic Project Coaching

This coaching pathway is designed for aspiring researchers, practitioners, and interdisciplinary academics seeking high-level guidance on Masters and PhD research projects. The process is intentionally structured to provide thoughtful, tailored feedback rather than generic consultation.

The initial Contact Meeting involves significant preparatory and follow-up work beyond the live online session itself. Prior to meeting, I carefully receive, review, read, and process your proposal or project materials in relation to your aims, disciplinary context, and current stage of development. After our meeting, I provide written feedback and recommendations tailored to your goals and academic trajectory.

Masters-Level Pathway

The Masters pathway represents a minimum three-hour professional commitment:

  • 1 hour reviewing and processing submitted work
  • 1 hour live 1:1 online consultation
  • 1 hour writing tailored feedback, framing suggestions, and literature guidance

For Masters-level projects, feedback may include:

  • Thesis framing and refinement
  • Literature review direction
  • Research focus clarification
  • Conceptual organisation and structure
  • Academic writing and positioning suggestions

PhD-Level Pathway

The PhD pathway represents a minimum four-hour professional commitment due to the depth and complexity of doctoral-level project development:

  • 1 hour reviewing and processing submitted work
  • 1 hour live 1:1 online consultation
  • 2 hours preparing detailed written feedback and strategic research guidance

PhD-level feedback may include:

  • Suggested paradigmatic positioning
  • Ontological and epistemological considerations
  • Methodological and study design guidance
  • Literature review strategy
  • Interdisciplinary framing
  • Research coherence and doctoral-level positioning

Coaching Flow

I will support you to develop and refine your project idea throughout the initial phase of our work together.

Once you have booked your pathway, you will be invited to email your project brief or proposal materials (if you have not already done so). This may include draft ideas, research questions, concept notes, literature reviews, applications, or early-stage writing.

You will then receive an invitation to book your 1:1 online Contact Meeting, which should be scheduled within the three-month booking window. During this meeting, we will discuss your goals, academic context, institutional or supervisory circumstances (if applicable), collaborators, intended direction, and any areas where you feel additional support would be beneficial.

If you are booking the PhD pathway, you will subsequently book an additional hour to allow for deeper doctoral-level discussion and project development.

Following the completion of these steps, I will prepare a tailored written set of guidance notes, which will be delivered to you as a PDF document. Depending on your pathway, this may include:

  • Literature review suggestions
  • Project framing and conceptual clarification
  • Methodological recommendations
  • Paradigmatic, ontological, and epistemological guidance
  • Study design suggestions
  • Writing and development recommendations
  • Strategic next steps for your project

Should you wish to continue developing your work with further support, additional coaching hours may be booked at a reduced hourly rate for ongoing 1:1 guidance and mentorship.
