The course curriculum takes a blended learning approach where trainees engage both online and in person. The syllabus is based on the traditional Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Krishnmacharya lineage of asana evolution, and Karen's book, Spiral Bound: Integrated Anatomy for Yoga.
The content is organized in three Modules:
- Module 1: Anatomy Inspired (self-paced anatomy course, approx 3 hours per week over 6 weeks)
- Module 2: Ashtanga Yoga in Theory & Practice held in person at A Wee Retreat in Peebles, Scottish Borders.
- Module 3: Yoga Alliance Core Competencies & Homework (self-paced monthly videos you can engage with in your own time during the year).
The in-person Module includes movement, anatomy body painting, teaching practice, pranayama and the practical assessment component of this training.
